Background
The floodwall was erected to protect the town from the river overflowing. This started back in 1938 and has been protecting Portsmouth ever since.
More information can be found here regarding the artists and the art that adorn the floodwall:

Impression
We’ve chosen to share only a few of the murals here, Please take the time to travel to this wonderful town in southern Ohio, right on the Ohio/Kentucky border and experience the art project for yourself.
There is a visitors center with some history, restrooms and ample parking.
Talk with the locals whom are super awesome and friendly, sample some of the local food, of which there are a lot of great places – Loft’s for coffee, Market Street cafe for some great soup and sandwiches or for a real treat – the Scioto Ribber!
