Background

Lux Mundi is the giant Jesus statue at Solid Rock Church near Monroe, Ohio. It was built as the replacement for the church’s earlier “King of Kings” statue, better known as “Touchdown Jesus,” which was destroyed by lightning and fire in 2010. The new statue, unveiled in 2012, is about 52 feet tall and depicts Jesus walking with open arms, meant as a welcoming symbol and a visible landmark off Interstate 75.

Solid Rock Church is a non-denominational megachurch serving the Monroe/Lebanon area, and Lux Mundi sits on its main campus grounds beside the church’s sanctuary and pond. The statue has become one of the most recognizable roadside attractions in southwest Ohio because of its size, its location along I-75, and the story behind its replacement of the former lightning-struck monument.

Impression

I remember first seeing this when I was traveling south to Hamilton, OH…I knew that I had to get closer to it and check it out.

Honestly, pictures do not do it justice on size alone.
